On this occasion, we held a party following the annual St. Patrick's Parade in Baton Rouge and—for some reason that I fail to recall and which had nothing to do with the holiday—we decided to make a timpano, inspired by Campbell Scott and Stanley Tucci's film Big Night. These pictures are not mine; they were taken by Alexander Tselebrovski.
Photos from a visit with family.
Every year since 1996, a group of friends and I have participated as contestants in the World Championship Gumbo Cookoff in New Iberia, Louisiana. Here we are in 2003, preparing our signature smoked duck and andouille sausage gumbo.
Several years ago, a flock of white pelicans stopped in Baton Rouge and spent time in and around City Park and University Lakes, near the campus of LSU. They've stopped by every year since. I finally went out one crisp but clear and sunny Saturday afternoon in January 2004 and shot some digital stills and video footage of our visitors.
On 9 January 2005, I ran in the Walt Disney World Marathon, my first marathon. I ran as a participant in the Train to End Stroke program, raising funds for the American Stroke Association (a division of the American Heart Association.
